Akcent Gallery is a new addition to the Brussels art world. It opened on 8 June 2006 with a unique exhibition of works by four leading contemporary painters from my native town Odessa.

Born, raised and educated in the ‘East’ and now living in the West I want to use Akcent Gallery as a bridge to enable the art-loving public in Belgium and Western-Europe to discover post-war artists from the former Soviet Union and from the countries of central Europe. Special attention will be paid to artists from these countries living in Belgium.

Since my settling in Brussels in 1996 I have come to discover and to appreciate the similarities in climate, temparement and way of living between my birthplace and southern Europe. That is why another planned activity is the exhibition of selected ceramics from Southern Europe. In this way Akcent Gallery may become a truly artistic European two-way street.
